I pray for all who have fallen in a war
No matter the reasons they may have died for
I do not judge, but feel only sorrow
For all those who'll die for a new cause tomorrow.

I light a candle for all who have died
For those who begged and those who cried
For the nameless and faceless in their unmarked graves
A god by any name always gives and always takes.

I say goodbye to the soldiers as they march off to war
Wondering if they believe in what they are fighting for
Locking eyes with the enemy, what then do they see?
Not a monster, but a human, just like you and me.

So I pray for all the victims of war
No matter the reasons they are suffering for
I do not discriminate, and it fills me with sorrow
That more will die for no reason tomorrow.
